Delete File In Cmd Access Denied
Posted By admin On 11/04/18

Hello, Due to a server crash, I had to restore my SBS2008 to a earlier date. As a part of the rebuild, I let Symantec Backup Exec restore the contents of the last usable tape to a local drive, so I then could decide what files to copy and what files not. Playstation 2 Games Iso Files on this page. Backup Exec also copied the SBS system folders to this location, e.g. Windows and Program Files etc.
Can't take ownership of files with take own get access diened. Also remember to run the CMD window as 'Run as. Starts with some access denied. To force a del command to delete read-only files, add the /F flag. Apparently, a read-only file cannot normally be deleted by a batch file, although it can still be deleted through Windows Explorer. To check if your file is read-only, you can right click on the file and select properties, or enter attrib at the command prompt. I'm trying to delete an executable, but it fails with the error Access is denied even adding /F to force it as del /F system.exe. I'm using an elevated Command Prompt. I'm having issues with the del command in a batch file. When it gets to the delete step I get the message 'Access is denied'. My batch command looks something like this.
Somehow I can't delete these folders. When trying to delete them, I'm asked to confirm the deletion twice. After that Windows reports 'You need permission to perform this action'. I tried several things already, but I can't seem to get these folders deleted.
Does somebody have any useful ideas? Thanks in advance, Martijn.
You say I have to check NTFS security, how do I do that? Right click the top level folder name. In the resultant list should be 'sharing and security' or 'security'. There will be a box to open for 'permissions' and a tab to click for 'security'. You must set them both to full control. First try what Merv suggested and see if just running a cmd prompt as the Domain Admin will allow you to delete them without making more changes to the permisions and the security. When you restore a computer from backup, SBS or otherwise, you should be back where you were before beginning the restore and with the files and programs in the exact postion they were in when the backup was made. So did you simply restore the SBS from tape or other backup media, or did you create a new SBS server from scratch and then copy/write/restore from the tape any files that were on the tape to a location on the drive? If the latter, the files most likely still have the old permissions attached to them from the previous install. As the current Domain Admin, try right click - security - advanced -take ownership Once you own the files, you should be able to enable 'full control' and then be able to delete them.
