And Steam comes with Uplay still, so you will need a Ubisoft account regardless.

You guys seem to be forgetting that, steam has been hacked in the past before, and not just once. No system/platform is secure. Personally I would rather to just deal with steam instead of freaking 3-4 programs but thanks to EA and Ubisoft I have to deal with other programs.

One day Ubisoft MIGHT drop their Uplay system ( doubt it. ) but we all know EA wont drop theirs lol. Something we sadly have to deal with due to enough people accepted it as being ok so these companies are going to do it. Edit Besides that, not much of a hastle with making a uplay account.

I have Farcry 3 ( did not buy that one on steam. Bought it on sale somewhere else and it did not activate on steam sadly. ) and Heroes of Might and Magic VI. Enjoyed both quite a bit. Farcry 3 probably more than HM&MVI tho. ( But still enjoyed it. Like it more than V.

Same issue for me, purchased the retail product ( 2 original boxed games) for me and my son, we both entered the Serials in our respective UPlay Accounts and were able to play the game without any issues. So as the games were linked to our accounts, i threw out the boxes and recycled the manuals. Now after installing windows 8 on my PC, and replacing a HDD on my sons, the game is asking us both to 'activate' and enter our serial numbers. If what you are saying is that without the boxes, UBI wont retrieve our keys, im out by about £50.

Uplay is the DRM, so they should be able to retrieve our Keys without the boxes, the game is in the account, they can see that, so im seriously hoping i dont get the same kind of message as you received from them.
