I think the virtual machine would work if your Cybermation controller is the SCO version. If you're using an older version, it will not work. The Color 486 version is very picky about everything, video driver, serial port driver, hard drive size all have to be within a very small set of parameters. We were able grab the settings using a serial connection between the Cybermation computer and the CAM computer during training. However, we're stuck with those settings.
The table is able to load the settings from the DNC32 program. One of the things on my to do list is to see if I get the information the CAM is uploading and write my own program to update them. The table is able to load the settings from the DNC32 program. One of the things on my to do list is to see if I get the information the CAM is uploading and write my own program to update them. We are also controlling our cybermation tables (2) from the DNC32 (Windows) communication utility. Our old Unix controllers are now idle.
The 'Black Boxes' that drive the tables may be the limiting factor as to whether the DNC32 program will work with them. Don't know about the virtual machine, be sure and let us know if you get this option to work. The CNC controllers are a dongle option, sounds like the 'Black Boxes' may not have been compatible, or the old unix controllers were left in place as a cost saving measure to forego the CNC controller dongle option.
